Impressive large fossil plate with multiple Scyphocrinus crinoids, originating from Morocco.

This specimen is immediately striking due to the abundance of fossil material. Remains of crinoids are visible across almost the entire stone: several large calyxes with finely preserved arms, long articulated stems, and numerous smaller fragments. The strong three-dimensional relief makes the fossils clearly stand out from the natural matrix.

Crinoids, also known as sea lilies, belong to the echinoderms and are related to, among others, starfish and sea urchins. With their branched arms, they filtered food particles from the seawater. They belong to a very ancient group of marine animals that has existed for hundreds of millions of years.

The combination of the dark fossils with the natural reddish-brown and gray rock matrix gives this plate a particularly powerful, almost museum-like appearance.
