Impressive fossil plate with multiple specimens of Scyphocrinus elegans, an extinct crinoid or sea lily from the Paleozoic era.

The plate displays various crinoids with beautifully preserved calyxes, arms, and long articulated stems. The pronounced relief and the many loose stem fragments in the rock make this an especially decorative fossil with many details to discover.

Crinoids belong to the echinoderms and are related to, among others, starfish and sea urchins. They lived attached to the seabed and used their branched arms to filter food particles from the seawater.

This specimen originates from Morocco, Northwest Sahara, an area known for its fossil crinoids.
